I want to give a welcome to all of our future Christine Grant Elementary students and families. I am very honored to be the first principal of Christine Grant and look forward to working with you all in the creation of a positive learning community. The opportunities are endless as the establishment of traditions, celebrations, and culture within and beyond the walls of the school occur during this planning year and beyond.
We will get to know each other on many levels as planning occurs over the next year and, of course, once the school is open. During this next year, I will be assisting at both Garner Elementary and Penn Elementary. This will be terrific as I also will get to know many of our Christine Grant students and families!
Feel free to contact me with any questions.

We recognize that the mental health of our students and their families is of concern for many as we come out of the pandemic. The past school year has been challenging as we faced unprecedented change in our daily lives, routines, and social interactions. Students and families may find themselves in crisis situations that require immediate action. It is important to us that you are aware of local resources that can provide support throughout the entire year, including during the summer.
At the end of this school year, the Iowa City Community School District will switch student information systems, moving from PowerSchool to Infinite Campus. By June 15, 2021, parents/guardians with students enrolled for the 2021-2022 school year will receive a message with instructions to create a parent portal account within Infinite Campus.
Beginning June 14, 2021, the Iowa City Community School District will start reintegrating certain practices that were suspended or modified during the 2020-2021 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The below guidance focuses on District building access and general use. Health and safety guidelines related to the instructional day for the 2021-2022 school year will be published on August 11, 2021. Health and safety remain a priority for the District. The District will continue to monitor COVID-19 rates and will make adjustments as needed.
The Iowa City Community School District is excited to begin the development phase of Facilities Master Plan 2.0 (FMP). Similar to the first FMP, which is nearing completion, FMP 2.0 will become a District-wide, multi-year facilities plan focused on creating innovative 21st Century learning environments across our District. Building off our recently completed work on Portrait of a Graduate, FMP 2.0 will create instructional spaces that help maximize student opportunity and support all students being college, career, and life ready when they leave the District.
